01 / Lead Cast

Eve

Female · 13–16

"The one who tries to keep everything together."

Character description

Eve is one of the more level-headed members of the group. She cares deeply about the people around her but isn't always comfortable showing it. She's used to having things under control, and struggles when life starts moving in directions she hadn't planned for. Her friendship with Jake gradually becomes more complicated than either of them expected.

02 / Lead Open

Jake

Male · 13–16

"Usually knows what to say. Less often knows what to do."

Character description

Jake is naturally funny and tends to use humour whenever things get uncomfortable. He's confident around his friends, but he's less certain when it comes to his own feelings and the future. He's fiercely loyal to the people closest to him, even when he doesn't always know how to show it.

03 / Supporting Cast

Alice

Female · 13–16

"Doesn't need everyone to like her."

Character description

Alice is confident in her own opinions and isn't afraid to say what she thinks. She can come across as distant when she first meets someone, but she's much more caring once she lets people in. She's comfortable being herself and doesn't particularly care about fitting in.

04 / Supporting Open

Emma

Female · 13–16

"One of the few people who can read Alice properly."

Character description

Emma is one of Alice's closest friends and understands the warmth beneath her blunt exterior. More socially adaptable than Alice, she can move comfortably between different groups without changing who she is. Their friendship gives Alice somewhere to be honest, but it is tested when Emma refuses to take her side automatically.

05 / Lead Open

Alex

Male · 13–16

"Everyone thinks they know where he's going."

Character description

Alex is one of the most well-known people in school and seems to have everything going for him. He's confident, competitive and used to people expecting him to succeed. As the story develops, however, he begins questioning whether the future everyone has planned for him is actually the one he wants.

06 / Supporting Open

Mia

Female · 13–16

"Seems to know someone everywhere she goes."

Character description

Mia belongs to a different friendship circle but knows Eve through their classes. Warm, sociable and rarely alone, she offers a glimpse of school life beyond the central group. As the year changes, her easy confidence begins to show cracks of its own.

07 / Supporting Open

Lewis

Male · 13–16

"Not the loudest in the room — usually the one who noticed."

Character description

Lewis is thoughtful, observant and easy to underestimate. He tends to notice when something is wrong before the rest of the group does, even if he does not always know how to ask about it. His quiet loyalty makes him someone the others rely on, and his perspective brings out the smaller changes in their friendships.

08 / Supporting Cast

Grace

Female · 13–16

"Already planning what comes next — even when it scares her."

Character description

Grace is part of the school's more ambitious, high-achieving crowd. Organised and competitive, she crosses paths with Alex through lessons and their shared need to succeed. She talks confidently about the future, but the closer it gets, the less certain she feels about leaving familiar people behind.

09 / Supporting Cast

Harry

Male · 13–16

"Turns an ordinary afternoon into a story."

Character description

Harry is outgoing, impulsive and usually the first person to suggest doing something. His energy keeps the group moving and makes him fun to be around, although he can miss the deeper tension beneath a joke or a change of subject. He gives the friendship group a lively, spontaneous side.

10 / Supporting Cast

Ethan

Male · 13–16

"Always surrounded by people — rarely says what he really thinks."

Character description

Ethan belongs to one of the school's sportier, louder friendship circles and knows Harry through PE. Easy-going and well liked, he usually follows the mood of the room rather than challenging it. When a joke or argument goes further than he expected, he has to decide whether fitting in matters more than doing what he knows is right.

11 / Supporting Open

Freddie

Male · 13–16

"Different on purpose — and stronger than people expect."

Character description

Freddie is quirky, quick-witted and unapologetically himself. His unusual interests and offbeat sense of humour occasionally make him a target for other students, but he is not easily intimidated and knows how to stand his ground. Beneath that resilience, the way people treat him still matters—and he notices who laughs, who stays silent and who steps in.

12 / Supporting Open

Sophie

Female · 13–16

"Not quiet because she has nothing to say."

Character description

Sophie spends most of her time with students from the school's creative crowd. Perceptive and more comfortable listening than competing to be heard, she notices the small moments other people overlook. Her path intersects with the central characters without making her another automatic member of their group.

13 / Lead Open

Ryan

Male · 13–16

"Already building a life beyond the school gates."

Character description

Ryan moves between classes and acquaintances without attaching himself to one group. He works part-time and is considering an apprenticeship, giving him a more practical view of what comes after school. Dry, capable and difficult to impress, he quietly challenges the idea that everyone has to follow the same path to succeed.

14 / Remote Supporting Open

Josh

Male · 13–16 · Remote

"Still part of the group, even from miles away."

Character description

Josh was part of the group before moving away. He stays connected through video calls, hearing the stories and jokes while also sensing how life is carrying on without him. The role is recorded remotely and is specifically open to actors who cannot travel to North East England.

15 / Supporting Open

Mr. Ellis

Male · 18+

"Pays more attention than his students realise."

Character description

Mr. Ellis is a form tutor who notices more than his students realise. He's not the teacher constantly trying to become everyone's friend, but he takes his responsibility seriously. His dry sense of humour occasionally catches the students off guard, and he becomes more involved in their lives than he initially expects.

16 / Ensemble Open

Background & Ensemble

Any gender · Age 11+ including adults

"The people who make the school feel real."

Character description

The wider cast helps create the world around the main characters. Classmates, friends, siblings, teachers and other students appear throughout the film, giving the school a sense of being a real community rather than simply a backdrop for the main story.
